Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2001

Comments: We tasted this blind and I thought it was a Burgundy!! The color was quite dark (non Pinot-like!) but also fairly translucent (Pinot!). After a brief decanting the nose was mushroom-sous bois, with some hints of raspberry (Pinot!). With aeration the fruit aromas became dominant and the mushroom faded to the background. Aromas of raspberry, brambles, eucalyptus. The attack is quite acidic (Pinot!), with good structure (not very Pinot) and great long fruity finish!
